So what is the shortest amount of time you have taken more than one big game animal?

We were up around Slave Lake last week looking for moose and big whitetails. Filled my buddies moose tag on the second day with a 45" bull and started really looking for decent whitetails to take home. Saw a few good shooters but never got a chance. I had said from the start that I would fill both doe tags on the last day in the last 15 minutes of daylight. Well the last day came and the buck I was watching never gave me the chance I needed, so onto does I went.

At about 6PM I shot a good size doe and had her gutted in about 5 minutes, and decided with all the does around I could take another and still have enough light to get a chance at the buck I was watching. So, I picked out another big doe and bang, flop again. Then about 15 seconds later a buck came out to sniff the doe I had just shot. What to do? Well I have many other tags open and I figured I would fill the freezer and move on with hunting season. So, bang flop again, three whitetails in no more than 20 minutes.

So what is your record? Three deer in 20 minutes is mine. Freezer almost full and over a month of hunting still left.

Back to sheep, elk and mulies. Now the fun begins :dancingbanana:

No pics of the whitetails, we seemed to be in such a rush we forgot to take pics, oh well maybe next time....

Nice pics Davey!!! My record is about 90 minutes with my father in law being the shooter. Pictured are two does and one buck in my jeep. The two does were killed with two shots in about a 3 second span and the buck was a little later. This was last year.

Now that is a good ATV trailer, one of these years I'm gonna build me a tandom axle ATV trailer :)

Cow & calf..bang bang! would be meat winner!
Or 4 deer in 5 shots in just under 10 mins :) 3 of them in about 30 secs!
For you westerners  Yes they were all legal & No it was not with a Single Shot :D

Hey Dave, way to go. I've been thinking about that Slave Lake country myself, I take a lot of trips up that way, Wabasca, etc. Quite the ATV the moose is hanging from too. :D
Anyways, I don't remember the year this happened, but it was in the Mossleigh/Arrowood area. I happened to have both whitetail and mulie tags. I was walking along the edge of a nice unculitivated depression when a mulie buck came out of the brush, took him with one shot. I hadn't even moved my feet when a whitetail buck came out 100 yds behind him. I swung over and shot him. A whitetail & mulie in seconds without moving my feet.

In BC your not allowed to fill buddies moose tag but if you were, dropping several elk or a couple of bull moose would be possible.

Nice pictures, the best I did was a about six years ago, we where party hunting in Spurcewoods, I was walking back up a hill and had my gun over my shoulder, something made me turn around, and I see five deer running right at me, I un-sling my gun, and flip up the site and the first one breaks to my right to run across this little clearing, at about 75 yards on the run broadside, bang flop, the next one did the same thing about 20 ft behind the first one, and it was follow the leader, bang flop, bang flop, bang flop, bang flop. The rest of the guys thought I went postal, and thought I was full of it, when I started calling them to get over here. And yes number 5 was a buck, and he just keep on going, because by that time, my jaw was on ground. How long of time it took??? I don't know, but I would bet, that at least three of the empty cases where still in the air at the same time. I should have bought a 6/49 that day, because that will never happen again, and the only way someone's getting thier hands on my 99 is to cut my hands off

Last year I filled three doe tags in about twenty minutes as well.

It was a weird feeling. Have seen many animals together many times but always with only one tag.

Bush Wacker,
What action rifle were you using?

I was hunting with Dad when I got my first deer. I was at a stand and heard three quick shots. Walked out to dad who'd dropped a doe and a fawn on the run. He told me he saw a flip of another headed down a hill into some thick brush. We walked down to where it went in, saw the spike horn buck standing about 25 yds in the alders. I shot and dropped it with my .30/30.

The two of us got those three deer within about 20 minutes, him with a BLR and my first deer with a Model 94.

I was heading back home when a nice blackie ran out in front of me, bang with the 250 Savage and down he went. I loaded him up and went along my way home when spot another nice blackie eating in the ditch, bang again with the little Savage and he rolled over backwards. He got loaded into the Nissan 4x4 and I started again for home with 2 bears in the back. I am getting pretty tired by now and just then as I was having a sandwich and a coffee out walks a nice 3 point mulie,so bang again with the 250 Savage and the deer does a power run at a big mud bank and drives his nose into the mud right up to his eyeballs, dead of course. I loaded him up after taking out the guts and away I went for home. I got about 5 miles from home and a nice legal spike fork moose walks across the road and stands there and looks at me, I pondered the shot for about 5 minutes and passed on it as it was getting near dark and I had no help for a moose. After I got 2 blackies and a mulie skinned out I was dog tired, I showered had a coffee and fell into bed.The next day after getting some needed shuteye, I went back to the spot where I saw the spike the night before. He was not at that spot but crossed the road about 500 yards down further and I took him with the 7mm mag. I spent the rest of the hunting season fishing as I had tagged out in less than 24 hours. That probably will never happen again and I'm not sure I would do it the again anyways, but the fishing was good and the moose jerky while fishing was very tasty.:D

Few years back our rifle deer camp was having a bad week due too weather, we hadnt seen a deer in 3.5 days. On the 4th day I was walking back into my stand sight, stepped into the field and saw one deer run out of the field, another small buck was standing in the wide open. Started too aim at that buck when I noticed a larger buck standing behind a tree watching me. Put the crosshairs on his neck and dropped him,, the smaller buck ran a very small semi-circle and continued feeding. Put the crosshairs on his shoulder and dropped him. Im all giggles now 2 bucks in ten seconds,, turned around to go get my buddy too give me a hand and there is a doe standing 30 yards away, put the crosshairs on its shoulder and dropped her. 3 deer in under a minute!

Went to my buddies stand and he says you must have had a runner? 3 shots within a minute. did you get it? Yep I had a runner,, didnt get a shot at that one.. I did get the other 3 though! He says your kidding me,, nope weve got work to do. We walk back and we step back into the field and there is another doe standing there, he aims and shoots that one. 4 deer down in about 10 minutes total! got too love party hunting!

My record is two whitetail does in about 5 seconds. I had two supp tags, spotted a big fat doe at the bottom of a hill behind some brush, lined up a shot, bangflop, up the hill straight at me comes the other one(I didn't see her at first) and bangflop I killed her in self defense at about 10 yards headon.

My quickest was two caribou with a single 130 gr out of a 270 Win.
Is this something to be proud of?
Mine also Ted 2 deer with one rnd.in my 257R, did not see the 2nd one till i walked over to gut the doe.
Odd to see people brag about embarrassing mistakes...
Good to hear the bullets carried on to kill the second animal instead of hitting a leg, the jaw, etc..

New rule for me last year - only one animal hanging at a time! When the weather turns and the animals are just hanging in a shed it makes for a lot of work for one evening... With all the tags available for deer in Alberta it can quickly turn into a runaway.

A few years back I only had Nov 11 to hunt due to work (yeah, I quit that company!). I had a mule buck, mule doe, either whitetail and an extra whitetail doe tag. I went looking for mulies and came across a whitetail buck bedded in some scrub. Never moved at the shot, just flopped his head down. Tagged and gutted and carry on. 5 minutes or so later I come across the herd of mulies I was there for. Down goes my buck and the rest bolt, only to have some does stop to look back. I check the lack of movement in the buck and shoot a doe. 3 deer in under 20 minutes at this point. I walk up and tag the buck and go find the doe. Tag it and drag it back to the buck. Clean them both and start for the whitetail. As I'm walking I see three whitetails moving across a clearing, browsing. I'm thinking 'four deer? hmmm...'. So I just look and let them move on. After that day I've always quit hunting after two deer are down for the day. Now I quit after one and don't get another until the first one is safely in the freezer, although if I was pressed for days afield I'd no doubt change my tune.

Nope, just answering the question. :D

The first bull was entirely alone, no other animals anywhere near him, and certainly none in the same line of fire. The bullet hit him in the neck, deflected off the vertebrae, passed through the neck and exited at about a 30-40 degree angle from its original trajectory.

It then travelled another fifty yards or so and hit the second caribou right behind the ear.

Witnessed by three other people and somewhat different than intentionally killing three deer in twenty minutes. :runaway:
