Is it just the photo quality or does the upper gun have a sort of boomerang shaped checkering?
Nah, the photo is messed up!
It's a Westley Richards ejector box lock and as such has checkering of your usual Westley Richards quality!
I have to take a better picture of it

Yes. Had a look. April 14 is auction date. May have to get one if I look at them long enough.
