Smith & Wesson has just announced their new all aluminum alloy optic ready 4.25" M&P available in 9MM, and 45ACP. At 30oz the gun would be a player in several IDPA Divisions. Given judicious filing of the mag base and caliber choice you could use the gun SSP, ESP, CCP, CDP and Carry Optics. IPSC users might use it in Production, Standard and their their Optic Division. I almost forgot the 2 and 3 Gun shooters as well.

I suspect the gun will chase the LEO/Military market as much or more than the sport shooting group.
