Just curious on what handguns you were going to buy, but decided against and why?

For me it was;

Walther PPQ 9mm

-Mag release was very hard to use
-Grip was very small for my hands
-Slide catch was to big and my thumb would rest on it

Ruger SR-9

I had always wanted one, but the grip felt too small in my hands and the trigger was really crummy. Would be nice to have one day though, but not on the top of my very large list anymore.

Same with me. Saw it on the Ruger site, fell in love with it instantly. Then I held one, that changed everything... Still a nice gun to have though, however, it is not on the priority list anymore.

4" barrel blued Colt Python - pure ### appeal. I had the 6" model, but preferred my S&W revolvers more. However, the 4" S&W 586 was never as ###y looking as the Python.

The PPQ is available in Canada?

An XD9.
Maybe one of the favorite guns I've shot, but just in no way does it look good to me, and life's too short to shoot a gun you don't think is ###y. I bought a H&K USP instead and I like shooting it as much as the XD but love the way it looks too.

glock 17 gen4, I absolutely despised the trigger, and with my grip/thumb size I hit the mag release with my thumb when the gun recoiled. Shame really, because I enjoyed the other aspects of the gun. But, after 50 rounds I wanted to throw the thing into a river.

I once considered a Glock. Here is why I didn't buy it:

1) It is polymer which feels too light & plastic to me
2) The grip felt like a brick (square & uncomfortable)
3) Fugly factor (just my taste)

Some day I may take another look. It bothers me that so many people swear by them and I can't seem to get my head around it. They must be good if so many of the best pistol shooters in the world use Glock. Is there something wrong with me???

The One I Turned Down

A Walther PPK, German police surplus offered by a friend for $125.
I didn't want to part with that much money.
It was in 1985 or 1986.
Who knew?

CZ Shadow. Nearly bought it for my girlfriend. She probably would have liked it but I don't know, something about the CZ-75 leaves me a bit cold.

She likes her 226 now. But I think she would have enjoyed the Shadow as well. Considering how often she shoots, the "hell and back" 226 reliability is not really getting put to the test anyway.

I was set on a glock 17, even liked the looks. Once I held and shot it though, everything about the grip felt wrong. Another one was the Jerico 941 which I loved handling but I didn't like the trigger when I shot it

Dessert Eagle in 50AE, wanted one for years, but once I saved up to buy it I just couldnt bring myself to spend $2000 on a gun, not to mention the ammo cost. Would still like one but its just so imparactical

HK VP70z. I was always curious about them and thought they were neat. Saw a used one in store about 7-10 years ago. Price was decent and it was in not bad shape. After handling it I decided against it.

It only had the one mag IIRC so finding others was going to be a PITA. Plus, I knew going in it was going to have a heavy trigger and be of limited use to me ie safe queen.

In retrospect, I probably should have as it is the closest I'll get to a Walther PP/Sig P232 (which I'd really like) in my lifetime, short of one of the restricted frankenbarrel ones.

I've also been sorely tempted with a couple Browning BDM's that pop up here time to time, but again a semi-rare gun and mags keeps me from "pulling the trigger".
