The infamous Bucket O Bullets, how is the stuff these days?

I can't complain with remington's customer service. I found two duds in two different freedom bucket (223 remington, upside down primer, second one sideways primer no charge/bullet) and they sent me a cheque for 25$ USD each time. So I spent 380 CAD and got back 50 USD lol and still had 299 rounds go bang.

Worst case if you keep finding duds e-mail customer service (remington US) and they will take care of you!

That's funny I had some bad hornady and they told me to pound salt

I am completely done with the old "freedom buckets" .22 quality is not the best even for rimfire, but the .223 bucket that I purchased over the summer was brutal.
It contained 2 rounds with no primers, at least 5 rounds that would not chamber due to oval cases, there were only 289 rounds in the supposedly 300 round bucket, and I got a free .380 auto round mixed in.
They were also easily the dirtiest .223 rounds that I have ever fired, I wish I took a pic of my BCG after firing 150 of the "300" rounds, It was so filthy it had to be seen to be believed.
Never again!

Saw these today in my Local Wal-Mart for $99.99. Never used before. Almost bought a couple as I'm used to seeing them at $129.99 locally, but held off.

Nice to see 22lr Prices coming back down :)

I speak of course of the Remington 1000 round plastic pail of .22LR, which Cabela's keeps dangling in front of me for the "low low price" of $100. Not something I would have contemplated shooting when W was still president, but one must lower one's standards to fit the situation.
Looking at the reviews on Cabela's, some are glowing and some are claiming total fail, but all are from the USA as far as one can tell.
Has anyone shot the stuff now being sold, and it as dirty as some claim, likewise are the bullets not crimped at all, are many of the rounds underpowered and are the rounds sometimes bent into a curve like hoops (which I myself have seen in the 555 stuff)? Or are they just standard Remington rounds in budget packaging?

I bought a box of 525 Golden Bullets at Wholesale Sports in the Spring. I have been testing 22LR ammo for about 8 years now, and do the testings in a very controlled and consistent manner. I bought them because I had a bunch of Remington Cyclones that shoot quite well for high velocity ammo, and were my go to gopher ammo. Much better than say MiniMags. My hope was that these Golden Bullets were perhaps close to the Cyclones for accuracy. I can report however that of the 34 different ammo types that I have tested, these Remington Golden Bullets are the very worst of them all for accuracy. If you look at them, a good percentage don't even have the bullet straight in the case. I think at the end of each day in the Remington rimfire factory, they sweep the floor and anything on the floor is called a "Golden Bullet". They are garbage!

It is kind of a shame, because Remington Cyclones were good at a good price, but seem to have disappeared from the market. Remington Sub Sonic HP's have shot up there with the lower end target ammo and are very good. However today if you can find them, the price has skyrocketed to target ammo levels.

So I guess it depends on your expectations. All I have shot have gone bang. They are not all that much worse than MiniMags which are way overpriced for the quality they actually are. They may be find for offhand shooting tin cans and the like. You always have an excuse if you miss!

Here are the results of my accuracy testing, with the Remington Golden Bullets with a solid lock on the bottom of the basement...
