The Italian garand sights, connection is back

Thanks for the link Thomas!

I am pretty sure its a good price but do you suggest I spend the extra $$ if I'm going to scope my M305?

I still have lots of money to spend on this project I have to agree this is going to be a money pit but I like it coz I'm addicted to it now and if I didn't do it right my "#### will fall off":D

I guess compares to those that you have mine's is nothing:p

I swear to god the Italian EB image posted is the exact same image as the one used for the sight I purchased out of Greece!

if you are running a dedicated scoped rifle...... you may not need to replace the rear sight.... but it's a good item to have sittin in the stash drawer for future use ;)
I like to have a decent set of rear sights on hand in case my optic craps out in the field. AND these sights are priced far less than genuine usgi m14 rear sights..... seen how much guys are askin for them on the u.s. forums. ?? 150 and up is common place. These garand sights are essentially the same quality of manufacture as the usgi m14 sights, and are identical.
get em while they are around :D , 50.00 is a steal. (okay will probably be closer to 100 cnd landed , but still a good deal)
I ordered two sets

Calvin..... i have a virgin m14 receiver here ....... she's will be your "adoptee" rifle whenever you are venturing north to canukistan :D . Ponder that one....... she will need a name. I grabbed a set of those garand sights to dress her up with.

Thanks for your post!

Now you guys make me want a set!;)

So is the Garand sight a straight swap on the M305?

Any modification required?

I know this is going to be a money pit.............but I like it!:D:D:D Just don't tell my wife!

This ebayer is a great dude, and he ships to us terrorists in Kanada! Just like 45ACPking said, if you have scoped your M14, then save yer money. If you shoot iron sights only then, don't get ONE set (you know this is coming.... ) , get TWO sets!

Cheers,
Barney

If you have the latest Marstar M14S, the 2007 model (has 2007 marked on the receiver) those sights appear to be made of much harder material, have good positive clicks and the quality seems just fine compared to all previous versions.

So do you mean dropping $$$ for a garand sight is not necessary for those newer M305?

Did you notice any accuracy issue with the stock sight on the Norc?

What is the difference between the garand / M1A sight vs the NM?

Most Garand sights are dialed in yards, Norinco in meters.

NM = National Match and NM rear sights have a smaller aperture, finer clicks (1/2 moa with a NM elevation disk) and are capable of being adjusted 1/2 moa simply by turning the aperture. NM front have a finer post. Unless your shooting long range competition with open sights NM are not needed. The Norinco's prior to the 2007 models were mushy and the clicks wore out fast because of soft metal also some of the apertures were drilled off center and wrong diameter hole.

The main benefit to the Garand sights are good quality steel with the Breda ones having nice large numbers usually in white lettering which make the numbers on the dials way easier to see.

I have a few sets of NM, but only have them on one rifle because they really are for long range stuff and actually hinder you for the close up shots because they are slower to acquire a sight picture.

Thanks WWIII for you detailed explaination!

Since we are on this topic do you mind if I ask you do you know of any scope mount which will alow the use of the stock sight as well?

The reason being is I will be scoping my Norc and it will be nice if I can still able to use the open sight as back up in case I knock the scope out of zero.

Thx

My opinion is the ARMS 18 ($225.00) with ARMS 22 ($140.00) rings is still the best bang for the buck, using irons you can shoot over the mount & through slots in the bottom of the ring bases rather than under the mount, it is also made from steel rather than aluminum. Also mating the ARMS 18 with a set of ARMS 22 quick detach scope rings gives you the option of using open sights real quick by simply removing your scope with the flick of a couple of cam lock levers instead of shooting through the slots in the rings. Also the low mount keeps your scope closer to the bore axis which means less adjustments. Keep in mind to use irons with the ARMS 18 you have to have ring bases with slots to see the front sight such as the ARMS 22 rings.

Smith, Sadlak and a hand full of others are also very good mounts but most are more money. I guess it all depends how much you want to spend.

If your into cheaper mounts I do believe all of them are shoot under mounts. However depending on your budget there is some fairly good lower priced mounts on the market. I have only used the Springfield Gen 3 shoot under mounts in this category and they were just fine for most situations. Check out Marstar, Basset, Leapers, Springfield etc if this is more suited for your pocket.
