The side by side, an exquisite and fine hunting shotgun, is often over shadowed by the ever popular over/under shotgun. But the area the the side by side excels at, and is perhaps the best at, is upland game bird hunting. Because of the side by side shotguns overall smaller frame, they're typically much lighter than a comparable over/under shotgun. A 20 gauge side by side can weigh about the same as a 12 gauge feather weight without the sacrifice of steel to aluminum.
