So it's been about three months since I took the CFSC and I just received my phone interview today along with my references. When I got home I checked the status of my application and it has been approved and my license has been issued!

I'm quite pleased! It was a long wait but it's been worth it. I'll finally be able to join you guys as part of the Canadian population who possesses firearms! This site was very helpful in allowing me to pursue my RPAL and I'd just like to thank you all for the information you provide people like me who are new to this whole process.

Congrats and let the fun begin!

Goasts - I'd love to know when you actually receive your license in the mail. My RPAL was shown as approved and issued last Friday (just 2 days after yours).

From what I understand they only send outgoing mail on Thursdays... so you'll have to wait a week before it they mail it. This is only here-say though, I can't back it up.

Thanks Yansee. I've read quite a few different posts on when licenses are shipped and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I just ready one where someone had their license showing as approved on a Monday and they had their license by the Friday. I'll just have to be patient. Thanks.

I loved my phone interview..." no........no.............no...............no..................no......ok thanks cya"

Congrats.
As an early step into the world of Canadian firearms, please consider joining the CSSA, NFA, or preferably both. The total cost will be under 100$, you get some free insurance, and you fund the organizations that are actually effectively protecting your right to have a gun.

See this thread for example.

It's the cost of a day's ammo at the range. If half of Canadian gun owners joined, we'd never have to worry about bans or confiscation again. They have the ear of the government and the bigger their membership, the more the politicians will respect them, and us.

Enjoy the addiction.

The journey comes to an end? No man, this is only the beginning. If you had any disposable income before - consider it GONZO - but welcome just the same. I'm a noob as well.

I just received my upgraded PAL in the mail. Now I am fully licensed for both non-restricted and restricted, and the upgrade also took care of my renewal (received my renewal application in the mail last week).

Congratulations, and welcome! I'm new to this Forum although I've had a love of firearms & reloading, for over 50 years. Been through all the changes in legislation since the early '60's, complied with all the changes, presently hold a PAL so, I have to ask......what is a RPAL??
Mike

There is no such beast, per se, but R (refers) to Restricted. Therefore it's a PAL that allows acquisition and possession of Restricteds.
