I attended the monthly Burnaby gun show today as I often do. It is the last to be held there. The show is now moving out to Chilliwack. Todays show was pretty good. I got a couple of good buys I was looking for and missed a couple more as I had spent all my cash. One of the sellers was trying to sell a #4 mk2 sporter for $400. He said he didn't really want to sell it. And he probably won't. On the other side of the scale, another seller had 2 Enfields. A sported #1 and a sported #4. There was no price on these 2 guns. He said he had no idea of the value. I told him the #1 was in very nice shape and could easily fetch $150. The #4 turned out to be a very pretty and almost mint Parker Hale. This I told him should get $250 and higher as it was so nice. He sold it 30 seconds later for $150. Geeze! If I hadn't spent all my cash I would have jumped all over it. Oh well. I don't lack in Lee Enfields but just one more is always nice.
Lots of other good stuff there today. I hope the shows will be a success in the new location.

If you go to the HACS main, web site, they have posted a map with the location. Appears to be in the old historic downtown fairly close to the Chilliwack Hospital.

Apparently the Operating Engineers were going to do some extensive and long term renovations. The new location is also going to be about 1/3 again larger. The historic arms guys are for the most part not that young. I wonder what this is going to mean for some of those older members from the city, most definitely this will mean some will stop. Hope some young blood replaces them.

Popped in as well this morning to bad it's moving to the Wack, not too convient to pop over too before I go to work on Sundays. Oh well, doubtfull I'll be going anymore.

I think we'll get more overall attendance being in Chilliwack as it's not so much of a stretch for the just outside of the GVRD folks. Less travel for some of the vendors as well.

It's sad but most gun show patrons don't place much more value on a high quality sporting Lee Enfield than they do a backyard Bubba job. They were and still are a great hunting rifle and more robust than most new factory rifles.

At 200 km and 2 hours of driving plus 2 bridge tolls from Vancouver, it will seriously cut down on my attendance.

BTW, how much is that stupid toll?

The geniuses who dreamed it up should be run naked and flogged from Horseshoe Bay to Hope.

Have they started on replacing the Patullo Bridge yet?

When I used to live in New West, I crossed that bridge twice a day, five or six days a week just going to the gym in Surrey.

I crossed the Queensborough Bridge twice a day, five days a week going to work.

I'd have been pissed if I'd had to pay a toll on any of those trips.

I sure won't be going to the monthly any more. Too far.

Once a year to the two day show and that's it.

I only go for ammo, loading components and maybe another 2nd hand Leupold anyway.
