Hello to all,

This is a 62-63 Winchester catalog, for many the last of the real Winchesters.:(
On this catalog featured a rare picture of 19 Texas rangers..but can you see what's odd?

This may have been the time period when the US Army used the 30 Krag and the 95 Winchesters were the same calibre, 30 US.
That one feller just didn't like them danged lever guns!

And here I was thinking the oddity was the 11 year old mexican boy on the far left of the second picture! :p

I got one of those stars out of a cracker-jack box once when I was a kid.
Are they still allowed to sell popcorn in a cardboard box with a small choking hazard included?

We have another winner!

Those are not Texas Ranger badges. I would wager they are Arizona Rangers who were issued '95's in .3040 Krag. (.30 US ARMY)

Hello Darryl,

I never paid attention to the badges but mostly the guns and what Winchester wrote about the picture. After reading your post, I did a research and you are right and Winchester was off!
The picture Winchester used was cropped from an Arizona Rangers picture from 1903. There were a total of 26 officers in 1903, their Captain was Burton C. Mossman. Infos found in a book by James Harvey McClintock in 1913.
Here is the original picture and congrats again! Now I just have to break the news to Winchester!;)
