Well here is the latest addition to my Glock collection. The 10MM Glock 40 Gen 4 MOS. What a terrific pistol. A mean looking machine.......

That is pretty sweet for sure. Hmm... I may have to get my first glock...

Hi kidcom,

Thank you for the pics. I think most people are unaware of the potential of the 10mm Auto cartridge.

Just as a side note, the 3 Glock pistols in 10mm Auto which I have owned (all 3rd Gen, 1x G29 and 2x G20) would feed and fire 40S&W ammo reliably, as long as it was not a mild reload. I used Blue Dot and Auto Comp in the 40 S&W reloads, and then Win Ranger T-Series JHP. It just feels like having a 38 Spl round in amongst a cylinder of 357 Mag when shooting.

Enjoy your fantastic Glock 40 and keep us updated.

Looks good,
I sure hope you are a handloader. Factory 10mm is not much different than 40 short and weak.
Full house 10mm loads are a lot of fun to shoot.
The worst thing about shooting 10mm is losing brass. Even if you don't handload, pick up as much brass as you can find and put it on the EE.

Enjoy your new pistol :)

That apparently depends on the optic. I have an MOS right next to me and the factory sights are totally visible with the optic installed.

Thanks misanthropist for your comments on the optic situation. Since I haven't as yet bought an optic for the Glock 40, my observation was based purely on what I thought would be the result of installing an optic on the Glock.

I'm not a reloader but the idea of collecting the brass intrigues me, especially if I can get some money back on my ammo purchases. The only question is, what does one charge for brass? As for using 40S&W in a 10MM pistol, I'm not so keen. I realize the bullets are basically the same diameter with the 10MM being a bit longer. It's the possibility, however remote, that something could go wrong.....

Here is what it costs new http://www.rustywood.ca/starline.html
It's typically $0.50 per piece for new Winchester brass at my LGS.

The bullet is identical between .40 and 10mm but I wouldn't run 40 through a 10mm unless it was an emergency of some sort. Something about only running ammunition matching the stamp on the barrel. I know that many peope do it and it doesn't blow up in their face but the pistol isn't designed for it and it isn't the same cartridge. It's not like running 44 special in a 44 magnum where the dimensions are the same and the charge is lighter. As Bollox mentions an auto pistol headspaces on the case mouth and with a 40 in a 10mm the only thing holding the case is the extractor. Plus just like when I used to shoot 45 Longcolt through my 460S&W mag revolver you will carbon up the chamber and then it will need to be cleaned to be able to run 10mm again.

To me it's not worth it, if someone wants to run 40 then buy a 40 or at least a 40 conversion barrel.
