The legendary Whelen

I've just finished fitting a Timmly 3lbs trigger, to a as new, 35 Whelen CDL stainless, I bought a few days ago, first shots last night, trigger pull very high, 200gr round nose look good, AB 225 around 1", and 200 FTX 1.5", hopefully tighten up a bit with new trigger, factory trigger was north of 72 OZ.
Hard to find 35 cal component's, on the hunt for Speer 220, 250 and 225 Serria, if any one know of a supply,

I am considering picking up a 35 Whelen in a pump or semi and flipping my BLR in 358 Win. Looking for a little more punch in the thick bush and short range.

yeah nah! short range and thick bush, 358 v 35 whelen is nothin to worry about or upgradde to!

if 300m was your theme, perhaps it might flatten out a little bit... but plenty oomph in the bushes in that short action 35.

I have 2 Whelens. A 7600 pump and a LH Sako AV that I bought used. Both are very accurate with Hornady 250 SPs; interestingly, that bullet has proven the most accurate of everything I've tried out of both rifles. Unfortunately, the only game I've taken with them is a few bull grouse in the thick stuff...head shots are de rigeur.

In a 1988 gun magazine article the 7600 in this caliber but in full rifle barrel length was being considered by the BC government for predator control.
Obviously it came to nothing.

My buddy shot a really small blacktail at really close, hair on neck goes up, you turn around and there he is range. He shot it through the lungs but it went a looooooooonnnnngggg way. He figures his .357 Whelen soft point didn't expand.
