With the amount of us who recently bought receivers, completely oblivious to the workings of the M1 Garand, I figured we should be contained to one thread outside of a sponsors forum. This way we can (hopefully) post links (no hotlinking) to places to buy our parts. Ask your questions, give eachother a hand, share the wealth of knowledge, post up your build pics.

As of right now, the best places to get Garand parts are:

A note on Sarco
MRKB said:
They will ship everything from a garand except barrels and "complete" bolts and have a $500 limit. They do offer the whole bolt for and extra $33. I was thinking about asking for the internal parts being purchased separately from the bolt. You have to place your order by phone. Online ordering doesn't work for Canada and don't waist your time emailing the international department. They will just tell you to phone in an order.

If ordering from the States, keep in mind the export restrictions:
The United States Government has export restrictions in place for items such as barrels, barrel blanks, bolt assemblies, cylinders,
receivers, frames, bolts, high capacity magazines, shotgun magazines, shotgun magazine extension tubes, shotgun complete trigger mechanisms, etc.

10 receivers left @ SFRC, jump on them quick if you want to build a Garand!

Are there any sponsors working on getting more parts at the moment? I know people bombed Marstars thread with requests for barrels and parts kits - no response, and I think SFRC said they'll see what they can do for both. Has anyone asked any of the other sponsors?

Wow, let us know the condition they are in. If it all looks good they have a breda trigger group + op rod order coming their way. (I may build this .308 garand soon if this keeps up)

I wonder if a hybrid using a take-off M305 barrel would be possible?

I believe it is possible but you would need to use the same gas system as the M305 as well and it most likely wouldn't fit too well without a custom stock of sorts. (If someone else could comment with more factual data, that would be awesome though)

One has to remember that you need a garand barrel block to barrel up a receiver and head space the bolt. A small list of people who have them should be posted.
Barrels and Bolts are needed, so a source for these should posted. It appears that some of the American parts supplier's don't have all of the parts you will need, who can ship
to Canada. There are a lot of people re-building guns here and there.

I ordered a Springfield Trigger group from Numrich about 2-3 years ago. It came here no problem.

I ordered one of the breda receivers from Lever arms and did a build on it. a very nice looking gun can be made. Criterion Barrel, new bodys stock with a few coats of tung oil and you have yourself a beautiful rifle.

Perhaps i should dig up some pictures.

Will do. I hate it when there is no tracking number haha.

I ordered from them on Sunday and have still yet to receive a conformation email that anything is happening with my parts or order... will have to give them a call tomorrow...

On the plus side, last 2 days 2 parcels came in. My stripped slightly-surface-rusty trigger housing, and a complete Mint-In-Wrap Bolt

Yep, I decided to dive in blind with both feet on this, so I got a lot to learn. Should be tons of fun. Always liked the Garand. This thread was a great idea Don. Got one Breda and one Beretta receiver coming. I also scored a couple of those oil paper wrapped NOS US bolt assy's.

Also, since the M14 and Garand are so alike, I'm expecting to gain a good insight into the Garand build by attending Hungry's M14 clinic. Great for fixing the Norinco, bonus for knowledge transfer to the Garand project.

I've got... *ahem* a few receivers coming, lol. Definitely want to build one .30-06 and one 7.62x51/.308 (to take advantage of the cheap PRC ammo). Should be fun building something from virtually scratch.

We got a source for barrels yet?

My build, it shoots fantastic, the parkerizing and barrel installation was done by Barry at ''Bits of Pieces'' , Might have to let her go soon need funds for a new S&B scope :( ..
