Well I bought one of these back in the summer and installation is a snap. I am throwing a Swarovski 3x9 on my M1A and everything seems to fit.

A couple of questions for the old hands:

- I did not Loctite anything down yet. Will I be able to get a couple good groups out of the set up without anything shaking loose, do you think? I only have red Loctite and don't want to do anything permanent until I decide on whether I want to keep the scope on or not.

- I am looking at the geometry of this thing and my question is - is the scope mount prone to vertical stringing? I noticed a Youtuber fella getting that and to me...just looking at it...I can't really see the scope pivoting downward under the effects of recoil, but I can definitely see it pivoting upward. Is this a common problem?

The boys over at Phoenix range in Aaaadmintin have those Voodoo cheek rests so I picked on up - they were only 20 bucks...but are they any good? If not I won't feel bad, I am working on making a proper leather cheekpad as we speak.

Wish me luck on the range tomorrow fellas! My old eyes are good with irons out to 100 but after that my sight starts getting short and my groups start getting big! Hopefully this scope will tighten things up a bit...:d

Congrats on your purchase. Sounds fun. Thank you for the note about the cheek rest, I want one. Blue loctite, if you can't find it, is at the Windermere canadian tire. That's if you really want to use it.

I plan on shooting mine a lot. I'll let you know how it works out. I shot about 50 rounds on Monday and am taking it out to 300 tomorrow, then 600 on Tuesday and with any luck, 1000 the week after. It's got a Leupold MK4 ER/T, 30mm scope.

Just follow the install directions carefully. Blue lock tite is usually supplied with the mount. You shouldn't have too many issues with it holding zero for a short period of time but you should lock tite it as soon as possible to keep it zeroed. As for vertical stringing, I had no such issues with some 400 rds down the pipe with the Casm mount.

I shot this last Tuesday at 100yds in 35 degree weather and 20-30MPH gusting winds. Speer 125's. No vertical stringing, aluminum CASM mount, night time, Leupold MK4, 4.5-14x50mm, 30mm tube, Leupold MK4 steel rings. Unfortunately, the 600yd shoot was cancelled due to the high winds we had that night and a cold wind chill so 100 was all I could do.

I can see vertical stringing happening if you don't screw down the rear anchor screw down tight enough, if this has a gap or works loose your mount will tip up wards. If you get stringing downwards on paper, this has probably happened.
But I've used mine on 3 different rifles now and they've all been snug as a bug.
One range session won't work screws loose without loctite.

I wrote a post somewhere about the casm gen 2 installation and the problem I had. Don't getme wrong, iit's a awsome mount. But just make shure you put a straight edge on it wen its mounted befor you put on a scope. My aluminum one was rounded up from installation. I had tk remove it and reinstall it with care wen tightening down the 2 ear peice.
