The M14/M1A CASM® "RD"

Promise I'm not shilling. This mount looks awesome though, there is a hole which can be used as an emergency back up sight.

My mechanic always told me that the more screws you have on your rifle the more chances that you will get screwed.
Introducing the Hopco USA Micro/Mini Reflex Red Dot Sight Mount for the M1, M1a/M14 platform. We are a couple of weeks behind schedule for releasing the product so we wanted to hurry and get it available.

Our design is to mount a micro/mini reflex red dot sight low on the receiver so as to provide a modern "heads up" visual display and at the same time retain some of the traditional looks of the platform. Care was exercised so that the receiver was not stressed nor modified. Transition from using the iron sights is minimal as it does not require the addition of a cheek riser. Target acquisition is now substantially faster.

By utilizing the rear sight pocket of the M14 receiver we were able to achieve an extremely secure low profile. Installation can be accomplished with a screwdriver and the included hex keys. The gun's original aesthetics are retained by using the factory Windage and Elevation knobs. The increase in weight is approximately the weight of the red dot sight because the Hopco USA aluminum mount replaces the iron sight's steel mechanisms.

Some of the early testing of the Hopco USA mount in "White".

I'd buy the american one.... They know their stuff down there. The "other" canadian version just has too many screws and lock screws to hold the screws that hold it to your rifle. My own casm mount stripped it's threads when it was removed one time. The jam screws deformed the main mounting bolts, causing them to frubar the mounts threads. It's in the junk box that I take to my m14 clinics. :D

Wow, a thread on a m14.ca product and m14dr has a negative opinion, shocking!! It seems the m14dr follows frank and Larry around the Internet disgretting them at every opertunity, m14 forums, ###, GS etc, it is getting old. We get it doctor, you don't like m14.ca. Maybe it is an ego or jealously thing, I don't know, but your responses are SOOO predictable it is sad:(

On the RD sight base, I am not the biggest fan of this setup. I like having a RDS mounted further down. But I'm glad someone has stepped up and actually followed through on their pipe dreams. Love all the other M14.ca products, still convincing the wife we need a BF stock. So it fits you better honey, lol

Actually, I don't follow anyone around the internet. I might have user names on GS and ### , however, I rarely log into either, and certainly do not post anything as you are accusing me of.

I have built, professionally and personally, a great many of these rifles, from the ground up with a great many of the popular accessories and parts availlable.
My opinions are based on experience.
I mean no ill will towards Frank of M14.ca. I have had many open communications with him by pm and email.
I can like or dislike a product based on my experience with the platform and you morons who think it's more than that need to get a life.
I could make a list of products that while they are popular with some, there are reasons I won't recommend them or put them on my rifles.
Unfortunately the necessity to utilize locking screws against the threads of mounting screws on ANY mount is not something I am personally fond of.
I'll apologize to Frank here if he feels I'm trashing his product. I'm not personally fond of the M14.ca mount, and I am allowed to express that opinion without the peanut gallery getting their nickers in a knot ;)

Are we crystal clear on that now kiddies??

While I have yet to see if it holds a zero on my rifle (waiting for some rings) I do have a bad feeling about the set-screw/mounting bolt arrangement on my CASM gen II. After the first install (following the included instructions to the letter) the mount was visibly bent down in the centre. No problem, I loosen all the set screws, pull the rear screw back up a hair and the tension is relieved. Out of curiosity at this point I remove the front mounting screw, only to see a bunch of metal shavings come out with it from the now shiny front hole. I really want to like this mount as it's Canadian, made locally to me on Vancouver Island I think and looks great but it definitely isn't off to a great start.

OMG you must be one of my followers LOL
Careful, you might get accused of having an agenda against m14.ca LOL
And yes, I'm just poking fun.

Well saying stuff like "buy the american one, they know what they're doing down there" does come across as a little smug to me and I can see how it annoys people. Honestly if the mount holds up well on the rifle I'll be happy, but if I ever need to make any major adjustments or put it on another rifle I'm a little concerned that the threading in the holes is going to be getting looser every time.

How erotic, you just wrote some steamy fan fiction for robosexuals

Also, metal shavings come out when you're done? That's running things a little dry bro

in recent weeks its become blindingly obvious that it is exactly what you've been doing.

albeit with a smile on your face and a statement of innocence whenever challenged on your comments.

Feel very free to p.m. me with links to these posts you speak of. I have actually been biting my tongue and trying to choose my words carefully when I comment on anyone's product.
I'll go out on a limb and say that I handle more of these rifles and the accessories that go on them than anyone in the entire country. And I think I have a right to my opinions which aren't based on emotion but rather hands on experience.
My 'experience' with the mount(s) was exactly as Gabe described and for me and my rifles, I'll stay clear and keep on using my arms 18 or smith mount.

Incidentally, one of my peeves with the arms 18 is the front pad on many I've adjusted, ALSO gets buggered by the little front jam screw. However, I've never had a smith or arms18 that produced metal shavings when removing or concaved upon tightening up it's adjustments.
You don't like my comments or professional opinion, move on, afterall, I'm just one guy on the internet ;)
