the M21 sniper rifle

is it legal in canada and are they for sale anywhere?

all it is a is M14 with some minor changes...

semi auto so it is non restricted...

Norinco makes a relatively cheap version or you can spend a lot of money to get the Springfield Armory M21 or one of there other models

Theres lots of lists you can find online that mention things you can buy/ modify on an m14 to create an m21 because m21's and m25's are only m14's that were upgraded.

Do some looking around the interwebs and you'll be soon on your way to an m21

As for question of legality, yes, perfectly legal since its an m14 with some upgrades

Your choice of the word 'sniper' shouldn't be attributed to a civilian firearm, regardless of its potential use in law enforcement or military circles.

The M21 is a marksman's rifle. You are not a sniper. You will not be sniping with it.

Remember this the next time someone who is looking to take your right for owning a firearm away says: "Why do you want a sniper rifle?".

sniper is a MINDSET , not attributable to a thing- it's skills you are taught or have picked up along the way of woodcraft , concealment and shooting- that's what makes a sniper- the words "sniper rifle" are an " invention" for anything that has a scope-

No, I agree with Dohunter, it may be your mindset but it is not the publics mindset and that is who we have to win over and keep on our side. Target shooting is a great and challenging sport, killing people professionally is not.

A true M21 would be prohibited since it's a converted auto (manufactured M14s usually were).

But you can build a non restricted version of it from a Springfield M1A or a norc M305. ;)

Go back to the original of the word sniper. Why do I want a sniper rifles? To shoot small birds, called snipes. If I shot at birds that is. It is not uncommon for antis to redefine words. In their mind "sniper" means killing people when in reality it just means a good marksman. Oh, hell, that's also politically incorrect isnt it. Marksperson:bangHead:

X2..............however be prepared to spend a boatload of money to attain precision type accuracy...........been there, done that....... ;)

With loads mimicking the M118 us military match ammo, if your rifle will consistantly shoot 5rounds under 3.5" @ 100 and groups 10 under 5 inches, off a bench rest, your rifle is within the standard accuracy requirements of an M21. Bed her to a nice usgi stock or sage ebr and add a mount and optic, like a smith enterprise mount and leupold optic, and you've got an m21 clone

Exactly. However, I am of the mindset to give them as few opportunities to 'redefine' as possible.

Sharpshooter. Marksman. Accuracy technician.

Logic ;)

Outstanding.

m21

a m21 was the rifle used before the rem 700 series m24(?). all it was/is was a hand selected m14, with the folowing upgrades.

-heavy nm type barrel
-hand picked glass bedded wood stock
-unitized gas block
-redfield art scope later letherwood art (sp?)
-nm rear sight
-reamed flash suppresor

basicly a nm rifle with a art scope. the scope mount was like the old springfield armouries but only a single conecting point, not 2.

basicly looked like a m14 with a scope. israel used it long after the yanks changed back to bolt action. think in receant years they changed the stock to a more modern "sniper adjustable" stock.
