Interesting article on the killing of Slovenian Nationalists after the war:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/the-massacre-that-haunts-slovenia-967682.html

Kind of reminds me of the Lienz incident where the same thing happened to 30,000 Cossacks. Fighting for the wrong side at the wrong time I guess. One thing of note is that Genl. von Pannwitz, the German leader elected Ataman by the Cossacks actually chose to go with his men when he was presented with the choice(being German he could have chosen to go into Western captivity). A very interesting part of WW2 History. Apparently there were even Cossacks with camels in the Balkans!

A good read is "Victims of Yalta" by Nikolai Tolstoy.

War crimes...

They didn't eliminate Nazi collaborators only: they also killed all the Greek communist partizans who helped them gain advantage on the german troops.
Hey, these were communists, you know...
PP.

Also just happened in Rwanda, Georgia, Israel, Sudan, Uganda, Somailia, Afghanistan, to most Western Hemisphere Natives, Spanish Civil War, Northern Ireland, former Yoguslavia, Iran, the Mormons `Mountain Meadow Massacre` of 120 white settlers in 1857 Utah, and the list goes on and on....

but it was bad in the Balkans,

ever wonder why there have been so many problemsin that area, well this is just another case of where one group dislocated / eliminated the other.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. Unfortunately most people don't care about history from any other perspective than the perspective they're given in their high school history book. We don't get it that people really hang on to the past in some parts of the world. Not that its a bad thing or a good thing, but for many people the past can hold precedent over the present, and they'd fight each other over something that happened 60 years ago or even more. I think its stupid, but we have to understand that so that when we meddle in other countries' affairs we would better know which things not to screw with. Kosovo being a prime example. Far from clear cut and a problem that I think is far from over.
