This is a thread for my fellow .308 (and other calibers) AR enthusiasts to ogle, gawk and discuss the MA-Ten billet receiver sets from Mega Arms.

This was inspired by this thread, with the goal of drumming up enough serious interest for it to be worth the importer's while to bring these babies into the country: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=469589

For the uninformed, Mega Arms makes AR-15 receivers as well. But since there are tons of those to choose from up here, and very few, if any, .308-type AR receivers (aside from complete rifles - LMT, DPMS, Armalite, KAC, PWS, POF), I'm focusing on their MA-Ten.

It is available as a upper and lower set, either with a regular upper or with a monolithic railed handguard upper.

The receiver sets come with a billet charging handle, threaded bolt catch pin, take down pins, dust cover door & upper receiver tensioning screw. Has an integrated ergonomic trigger guard (similar to Magpul's).

Accepts:
-all AR-15 lower parts (with sole exception of the bolt catch, which needs to be a DPMS-pattern, not Armalite, 308 bolt catch)
-all AR-15 trigger groups (not the large pin Colt ones)
-DPMS or Armalite pattern barrels, with matching DPMS or Armalite bolt & carriers.

Is it available as a set with the Mono-Upper?

I understand you have to buy an upper/lower Set, then buy the Mono-Upper separately. You are out of pocket $1600+

Yes, it is available as a set with the mono upper. They sell the mono upper separately as well, however, in case you want to swap uppers on a common lower. Rainier Arms is their primary seller down south. They have all sorts of combos to choose from.
See for yourself:

Lots of stuff.

Alright people...

If there is enough interest then we would consider doing a shipment of these. We would need 5 to 10 solid orders to make it worthwhile and I would estimate the whole process would take about 4 to 5 months (Mega is quoting 10 week backorder on these items and State Department is running average 10 to 12 weeks for permit approvals).

My guess is you'd be looking at @ $749 to $779 for the MA-TEN upper/lower sets.

Yes, it is available as a set with the mono upper.

Just remember that Questar will not be buying it from Rainier.
Rainier might have it as a set because they sell a wack of Mega product.

If Questar goes to Mega and wants to import 10 sets, they might not give him the same deal.

Same goes for pricing. Don't go by Rainier pricing.

Not pooping on the parade....just realize there might be a hitch in those plans of yours :)

Good point, but:
a) I'm more interested in the non-monolithic upper with the lower, so I'm not stuck with only one choice of forend.
b) I haven't read or seen anything to say that they definitely don't sell the monolithic as a set. Even so, if they like to match the lower to the upper, why would a monolithic upper be any different. The benefits of matching them are still the same. I'm sure this isn't lost on Mega.

If you have your heart set in the monolithic upper, there surely is some arrangement that can can be made so you can get the it as a set, and not stuck with an spare upper.

Some nice guns built off that MA-Ten Receiver. There's a few 6.5 Creedmore's in there.

Sort of shorty .308

I'm sure the Cadex lowers are nice, but folks like me are looking for a set (lower and upper) to base their build off of. The Cadex is fine if you have a KAC or Noveske upper, which are:
A) tough to find,
B) crazy expensive,
C) if you have the upper, you'd probably have the lower anyways.

For me, I'd like to put together a rifle from scratch, and use a receiver set.

Also, KAC, Noveske, LMT, Armalite uppers require a proprietary/specific pattern barrel and bolt carrier group. With the Mega Arms MA-Ten upper, you have way more options. Any .308 AR type barrel and bolt carrier group. As long as the barrel and BCG match up, and the bolt headspaces properly, you are good to go.

We have .308/7.62 lowers in stock ;)

Cadex, made in Canada, located here on the website

Will fit KAC, Noveske, Mega, Armalite uppers.

Damn Restricted Status To Hell!!!

If "Restricted Status" ever leaves the AR, I'll credit card that that monolithic .308 set to celebrate & commemorate! Beautiful.

:agree:
Except mine will get engraved F^C& RESTRICTIONS!

Love the looks of the shorty!

Yeah, the number of configurations and setups with the MA-Ten is impressive. For larger calibre AR's, the MA-Ten comes the closest to the AR-15 in terms of variety of parts, inter-compatibility, etc. No more having to pick just Armalite AR-10 vs DPMS pattern. Plus it uses widely available DPMS pattern/Magpul LR PMags.
Pretty damn sweet.
Now, all that's left is finding a dealer to bring one in..... ;)

meh, Restricted status isn't going to stop me from getting a rifle I like.
Remember, the only reason the AR platform isn't prohibited is because there were so many in people's possession at the time the gun grabbers made their move.
So, getting a restricted is my way of sticking it to those nanny state weenies.
