So, after no luck last year and some practical shooting practice this year, the misses landed her first deer ever this year, at 110-125 yards, a very nice buck (especially for a first ever) and now, I believe she is hooked! She said "it was an unexplainable feeling, I got him in my sights and everything went calm, I didn't even feel the recoil, there was a redish flash and I seen the bullets splash just right and high of where I was aiming!" She said after he bolted (for a short distance into some cover) she had a feeling of doubt, I asked her what the shot felt like, she said the whole time it felt perfect and then she described the shot to me, then I said we need to go look, a short time later we found him in some light cover, laid down and out for the count! She couldn't be happier with her first and is very excited to accompany me for mine this year! My trusty old 1894Winchester 30-30 has claimed another fine animal and will likely continue to do so in the future!

Nice buck, taken with a classic rifle, and the thrill of a person's first deer. Congratulations to the Missus!

Congratulations! Still can't quite figure out how people don't realize you can't just wear a colored vest in sk during rifle season. Has to be a full upper of blaze orange, yellow, scarlet or white and have a hat of the colors except white.

Andy is right. The vest is a no go so be safe!

Was this tagged near weyburn? I was out for a full day around southey and there is so much posted land it's ridiculous. We did almost 600 km of driving, pushed Bush in every field that we came across that wasn't posted. And saw two deer all day, both checking out the highway. Sigh.

It was tagged near Weyburn,.... the vest thing, kinda forgot about it not being allowed. Is the head gear mandatory or is it an IF your wearing it must be ect.........oh well she's done now, still cant figure out why they aren't expectable... :D, next year gets a full sleeved deal. There is a pile of posted land out here, very silly. We covered a lot of ground that day..... probably pretty close to 600k as well, this was the second Whitetail seen that day, and a mulie buck, lots of does that day though
