I live in Cochrane, AB, and the lovely wife and I have been discussing how and where we could get a chance to check out an afternoon of trap or skeet shooting and have an opportunity to break a few clays. Is anyone in the Calgary area able to point me in the right direction??? I realize the season is drawing to an end quickly, given the weather forecast, but any info would be appreciated.

since yo are in Cochrane check out the Kanaskis (sp) gun club. i know they were having regular trap nights but i haven't talked to anybody there lately.

I beg to differ that the season is coming to an end as I normally keep shooting until it gets below minus 20. In terms of shooting, I also suggest the Carstairs Trap club which is located adjacent to Silver Willow sporting clays as it is probably the closest to Cochrane. There is also the Lone Pine Clay Target Club located on Wimborne Road just NE of Olds. They have both Trap and Skeet and hold several functions throughout the year. The Calgary Firearms Centre at De Winton has trap, skeet and 5-stand. For more info

If you are interested, we are planning on having an introduction to the fundamentals of skeet on Sunday afternoon, November 8th at De Winton. As well we will have a recreational league in the spring/summer and are always looking for new skeet shooters. In addition, the Alberta Provincial Championship will be held at Olds while the Zone 8 Championship and a couple of registered shoots will be held at De Winton in 2010.
