I'm looking for a stock for my Grizzly
Who uses a Mesa Tactical AR adapter?
I'm looking at about $165 for an adapter and a Magpul CTR stock, plus say $20 for a buffer tube and $20 for a pistol grip puts me just over $200.
Or do I get something like a Phoenix Kicklite for about $120-$130?
An ATI stock like a Talon is only slightly more expensive.

Argh. So many options.

I ran the Mesa Tac LEO adapter and a CTR stock on my 870 and I really liked them. However, I want to try out an Urbino so I've just listed those pieces on the EE, if you're interested.

I actually like the ATI pistol grip design. It's stubbier, like an actual pistol. It also has good cushioning on the rear side of the grip. Alot of other brands are those huge, square gorilla hands size ones that often protrude unnecessarily.
One thing I recommend, is consider recoil when picking stocks. For instance, a Supercell is much more comfortable than a CTR when shooting multiple slugs and buckshot.

My 870 shorty has an ATI setup but I think I will swap it for a Magpul buttstock.

I do like the option of changing the length of pull but the ergonomics of the Magpul are so much better, especially shooting heavy loads.

Have you used a pistol grip stock on a shotgun before? They're not for everyone.

IMO pistol grips are best used when pulled rearwards from the front of the grip, pushing forward allows the gun get a running start at you during recoil.

Your best bet would be to some how try them out first at the range or gun store beg and borrow use your own ammo. Steer away from the ATI folding stock( it pinches the between the thum and for finger) the standard fixed is great! The Mesa tactical is good but price! Any grip ar fits. The Domminion ( grizzly) folder isn't bad for the price.

I do tend to prefer Magpul overall, but...wood is good.

My two 12.5"s. Left one is stamped DA Grizzly, right one is stamped only as PD12.

I still have an Urbino that I tried on the PD12 but didn't like it. Went with the original plan of the SGA instead. I also have a Hogue youth 870 stock that I haven't tried yet. I will likely leave it for a future build cause the SGA is killer.

Hey Parkinglot,

I have a Mesa High tube adapter, albeit on a 590a1. I love it, as it puts the centerline of the barrel through the top of the stock. But what you'll have to do is get AR style sights or some other way to raise the sight. You will not be able to look down the barrel correctly with a high tube adapter, without some type of modified / raised sight system.
