Hi Everyone,
I figure id share my experience with the new LEE PRECISION Ergo Prime
so my old trusty lee handheld primer died after 20 000 rounds (before someone says "i don’t know how to hand prime") then the handle snapped, so i was on the market for a new hand primer I figured 65$ CAD was sufficient to get something decent....well... its not ....
so the Lee ergo priming tool (#90250) comes with an insert for small primers and large primers, first thing I notice is that the cylinder that rams the primer up in the case feels super stiff (add a drop of oil then it’s a tad better)
next i observed a bunch of failure to feed ( the insert has this stupid elevator thing that brings the primers up to the ram for priming, and the tolerances are too small... URGH!! Frustrating, so after about 80-100 of large primers into cases i hear a faint crack.... ( and i didn’t think 65$ was cheap) upon inspection yep its cracked. so i move onto the the small primers to do some .223 cases and after about 200 cases .... it cracks in the exact same place..... yep not happy about it.
so i go back to the store and they have an update kit, i figure likely they sorted out the problems from the first inserts.... well I thought wrong! both the small and large primer insert from the update kit cracked in the exact same places as the original, and had the exact same issues with the failure to feed.... so i contacted the retailer and he had lee send me some new inserts (the same as the update kit) ....
anyway bought the frankford arsenal hand priming tool this thing is a beast all steel and ive gone through around 500 primed cases through it no problem..
thought id share before anyone else makes the same mistake ( ill have a youtube video done in the next week on this..
if you want to see the video with all the photos check out this link:
