They came out last year. After trying out a couple of friends ATR's 100's, and handling the Savage Axis/Edge, Savage 11/111 and a Stevens 200; I decided to pick up the 4x4 due to how it fit. I have the one in .270 with a laminate stock and marinecoat barrel, bought at Cabela's in Winnipeg. Fit and finish was actually pretty darn good. Out of the box it was shooting just under 1 inch groups @ 100 yards with 130g Federal Fusions. Bolt was a little stiff after initial clean up, but is now smoother after a couple of boxes of ammo. Overall, not to bad of a gun for the price. I'll break it down in Likes and Dislikes

Likes: Very low recoil, smooth light crisp trigger pull, accurate as heck.
Dislikes: Plastic magazine and the gun is LOUD. People next to you will think you are shooting a 50 cal MA DEUCE!!!

If I didn't care about the laminate stock, or the marinecoat barrel, I would just get the new synthetic/blued ATR 100. Has the trigger and fluted barrel like the 4x4 has EXCEPT NO muzzle brake...

Also you won't find too many fans of centerfire Mossberg around CGN, but it doesn't matter. If the gun is what you want, fits you nice and it's within your budget it doesn't matter if its a Savage, Remmy, Ruger, Stevens, Sako, Tika, Mossberg etc etc etc....

See if you can find the thread "ATR Train Wreck" The bolts are apprently poorly machined. I've played around with them at work, they feel cheap. If that works for you then go for it, but its not for me.

As I stated, not too much love for the Mossberg centerfires around here. If you do decide to read up on the "ATR Train Wreck" you will find out that you should never overload a handload (.270 62gr of H4831sc on a 150, only 7-8 grains too much powder over max pressure) and never attempt to disassemble a bolt and put it back together incorrectly. Basically it was another abuse of the USA's legal system where a person can do harm to himself, but will try and blame it on someone else to get some money (the lawsuit was against Mossberg, Walmart and Olin).

Remember no matter what you buy, a house, a car, or a riffle; they will all have something not all too perfect about it. Watch Holmes Inspection, buy a Toyota or Google Rifle Blew Up and see how many different makes and models and actions that grenaded...

They sell them at cabelas canada.BUT check out the Thomson center venture I tried one out and I was surprised how it shot, not a bad trigger and well built

Check WSS or Cabela's I'm sure they will have it, or they will order it for you. As I said I bought mine out of Winnipeg. But most importantly, if you can handle one before you purchase it, that would be your best bet. Make sure it is what you want.

I do have to apologize though... People rip on the "ATR Train Wreck" all the time, and the next line is "buy a Savage". I own a Savage and a Stevens and just wanted something different. Good or bad, each to their own... But my buddy does have over 2800 rounds through his 30-06 ATR 100 and still shots 1/2" at 100 with handloads.
