Hey guys~almost bought a used Savage 22WMR on the weekend, at the last minute the seller insisted I send a photo of my PAL so he wouldn't have to call the RCMP and waste HIS time verifying my PAL#/expiry date, etc. lol (was willing to provide, we'd even agreed on the price) Guess there are guys willing to risk that, I'm not one of them. Probably for the best, as I'd never liked the Mark II stocks..but had added risers to a couple of them over the years. Can be made to fit/work OK.
Got me thinking that MAYBE one of the new B series guns is a better choice. Now, I'm a CZ/BRNO/Anschutz guy primarily...but since I have so little faith in ANY brand of rifle shooting 22WMR very accurately, I'm not eager to spend even CZ money for a gun I never expect to shoot MOA. Poking around the Savage site for the first time in a long while...I was looking at the FV, and FV-SR in 22WMR. I've owned a 93FV (22WMR) and a Mark II FV-SR in the past. FV~typical 22WMR accuracy. FV-SR~below average accuracy, even for a Savage. That was disappointing, as I really liked the chunky dimensions, handy size, big bolt handle, etc.
Am I nuts considering a new Savage B series in 22WMR? Is there ANY change the new B series, FV-SR in 22WMR being even decently accurate? Not looking for internet reviews/YouTube videos...looking for the opinions of owners who have run a variety of ammo through them. As big as CGN is, not expecting to hear many replies on this. lol Goal~put a variable scope in the 9X-12X top end range on it, use it for a -125 yard varmint gun.
