He charged me $200 to cut, crown and machine the front sight and barrel to use the factory front sight again. I got her chopped to 20".

There goes the resale value out the window :bangHead: :D

OMIGOD! You've ruined the re-sale value of that classic African plains rifle. WTF were you thinking? :D :D :D

Looks good Davey. Let us know how she feels when you light her up!

Mine is great offhand but off the bench it gets old really fast!

Are you going to leave the front sling stud where it is?

The front sling stud will stay there, it doesnt bother me at all. I also like it slung over my shoulder, very comfortable for me where it is.

I have allready touched off over a hundread rounds through it, now to get down to some stiff loaded 300g TSX's and figure out how to fix the sights. I was thinking of making my own new front replacement sight, I allready have one started and think it should work when I figure out the height I need.

BTW, if you would have sold me yours you would have saved me allot of trouble ;) :D I tried, but no luck ;)

I am now seeing why you didnt want to part with it :shotgun:

That looks great, and you saved the front end  so you can use the irons:rockOn: Please let us know how it shoots, may even shoot better, if he did a nice job on the crown. Close up pics of the front would be great
Oh , some may figure you lost sight radius, not a big deal , as they are for in your face action anyway

That gives the Brno a real business look! I like it.

Here are a couple of suggestions which might be of benefit to you;

You may want to consider removing or taping down the leafs of the express sight. I know - I know, it kills the cool factor but I had a .458 with the Whitworth 3 leaf rear sight, and once in a while the recoil would lift the long range leaf into place. Where you are and what you are doing determines how big a problem it causes, should it happen. Be aware of the possibility is all.

I know you said you are happy with the swivel stud's location, but consider putting the stud on the radius of the forend. Placed at the radius position there is no change in how the rifle carries, and unlike barrel mounted slings, if you like to sling up when shooting, the radius position will not effect your POI. But, left where it is, sooner or later, the stud will cut your hand.

Boomer, a 375 in a giant tank of a gun shouldn't be a problem as far as the stud cutting your hand. These guns feel like a .22 in .375. By the way I got the laminated one off the EE a couple of days ago. Now to cut or not to cut. Actually I'm thinking .378. See when it gets here.

My carry gun, .458
21" brl. including brake
weaver K1 with post

the folding leaf sights were removed as Boomer said, don't need any what if problems.
not pretty , but i don't carry it for the pretty factor

I can't wait to try it out since it's been chopped Dave! Never tried chopping a barrel like that before, should be fun!
We will have to chrony that load again and see how much was lost.

Guess you'll be selling the guide gun now! lol

I remember you saying that before, but I have tried and tried and it in no way comes anywhere near my hand when shooting. I guess once it does cut me I will move it ;)

Thanks for the tips!

I do like the look of those rifles with a shortened barrel. I'm debating with myself about doing the same to my 9.3X62 that currently has a 24.5" tube.

This picture that I found on another forum got me thinking.
