Ok, I had the opportinity to fire about 300 rounds through my new Russian SKS today.

Absolutely awesome fun.

I dedicate this the official I Love SKS's Thread [tm]

Feel free to add stories of how awesome your first real shooting session was with your first SKS.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

[please sticky ;) ]

Just fired mine for the first time today. I only brought 80 rounds out so it was short and sweet. Great fun (If only we could get the damn pin removed so we could have all 10 rounds). I love the recoil, strong enough not to be boring, yet will not make you reach for an ice pack after 40 rounds. Really accurate, shoots better then me. Can't wait to head out into the mountains with a couple hundred round or so. Over all a nice rifle, and for the price I paid, it great.

Anybody knows those 1200 rds surplus at the Lebarons for $219 corrosive or not?

Got couple of crates from Ellwood months ago for $179 and gonna grab some if they are non-corrosive.

First ever trip to the range with my Tula 56 netted a 4 inch group at 100 yds after about 20 zeroing shots. Sweet shooting gun. 100% functional reliability in more than 300 rds. Will go for 200 meter 10 inch gong on next range trip. SKS is the most fun per dollar centerfire semi auto, regardless of country of make.

Definitely fun to shoot. I can say, for the price I love the SKS too. Its definitely on the heavy side, but oh well. It fires.

Heavy? :D

You consider an 8 lb rifle heavy? :p

Man I carry that much weight in ammo alone sometimes. :D

I too love mine although I feel conflicted with the CZ858 coming out non restricted. I too like the "pimped" out ones. :needPics:
