Perhaps not that famous in todays trap shooting world and a name many have probally not heard but as a kid learning to shoot in the 60's , 70's and to this day he was a real role model for us to follow. You could just sit and watch him shoot for hours.
If I recall correctly he did over the years manage to win two Canadian Championships in 1974 and 1985, the Southern Grand American in 1982 and the Nova Scotia Championship in 1967.Plus was inducted into the Cape Breton Hall of fame in 2004 and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
Quite an acheivment for any man in my mind let alone one that lost is left arm right at the shoulder in 1944 a few months after his D- Day landing.
His name is John Giovannette and was 89 years young. Those that have had the pleasure to know and shoot with him have shared something special. Rest in peace my friend and continue to break them all.
