The Pietta Python?

Yep, read about them on the Colt forum. No direct experience with them.

I think you can guess the responses from the die-hard Python fan-boys... :)

Is Marstar the Canadian distributor for Pietta or just a dealer? Wonder if they would know anything?

edit: My Italian is not great but if I'm reading the Pietta site correctly both Marstar and North Sylva distribute Pietta in Canada. I'll ask on marstar's forum and see if they know anything.

Provisionally awesome... Depends on what it costs to be a beta tester for a brand new gun. If it's north of a grand I'll stick with Smiths

I personally love revolvers, so I'll be the first to say it;

I think the real question is...what are the internal actions and the barrels of the guns going to be like? This is what made the Python the gun it is, not the look of it...although it has that too. If they can duplicate the action and make it as accurate, they will indeed have something. Not sure how they will be able to compete with the polishing job that was done on the Pythons either but technology marches on so perhaps they have a machine for that.

Given Pietta's history, probably the same as a real Python.

Really? I always think of Pietta as a maker of cheap ($500-600) Colt SAA clones. If they brought out a DA revolver I'd expect it to more along the lines of the Alfas in terms of pricing. Maybe a little more if they worked on getting a better finish although the bluing on that gun in the photo doesn't look like anything to get excited about.

Hey Pietta makes SAA copies they might as well make the Python.

Would be cool for them to do a run of 4.2" brl ones just for Canada, eh?

NAA.

I hate to be a kill joy here but if you just want a gun that looks like a python then why not find yourself a nice Dan Wesson. They are a proven gun at a fraction of the price.

Now if you are buying the real thing then that I can understand.

Just my two cents worth.
