The price of a moose license

In New Brunswick, $12 to apply for the draw (non-refundable) and $55 to buy the license if drawn....don't even ask if you are out of province....buy a good used gun instead!

Holy crap. I bought my moose license this weekend for the first time in I don't know how many years...20???

$45.50 !!!!!!!

I think the last one I bough was under $20.00 !!!

I know, I know. Inflation. That doesn't really make me feel any better about a nearly $50 moose ticket.

Had the same reaction, oh well what can you do.

And the best is that they keep cutting the tags, that sure is getting to be an expensive calf huh?

I'd love to know where the money really goes.

Your $45.50 may get you a shot at an immature bull (spike) in the near future. We may be going to the BC system, and to shoot a calf, you'll need a cow tag...

In BC, $20 for the tag.
$6 for the limited entry draw, however, general open early season any bull in quite large areas, lots of immature and some calf general open. (Residents, of course.)

$10.00 up here for any gender/size, season runs Sept 1-Jan 31. No draw.

I know groups of 8-10+ guys who apply for 10+ years without seeing a single tag. Add up all the money the thousands of hunters pay for years on end without any return and you see why so many got out of hunting in the first place. Add in the gun registry and its like beating a dead horse! Its like fishing or trapping, you do it cause you love it!

I think a moose tag is great deal at the price you complain about. One evening watching a professional sport or music concert can easily cost double that.

I suspect milk, gas, your car, gun and house have all more than doubled in price in the last 20 years. So it sounds like a fair price to me. Now if the govt would actually use it to protect our resources it would be a REAL deal!

I was born and grew up in NW Ontario, now I live a few hours away in Manitoba. To go back "home" and hunt moose where my father did costs me about $400 for the tag. $45.50 is a good deal.

Now if you really want to hear something that will burn your banana...
Since you haven't bought a tag for 20 years of so, you are in Pool 2. This gives you "0" chance of drawing an adult tag.

if you think the tags are pricey..
wait till you see your odds on getting a tag to use that tag

I don't understand the moose draw system, the old guy :D at camp deals with it. Apparently where we are going with 8 guys we should get 2, a bull and a cow.

I thouht the province had minimum size group equals a tag. This my thinking wrong?
