(Disclaimer: This is not a product offering. I will not be doing builds or selling these or similar units. I am not taking orders for any commercial variant of this design. I am posting this video as a private individual, not as a business.)

Well, I finally finished my update of the SK-15 design. Here, in 2017, my own attempt to design a system that restores parity between the humble SKS and other, more modern carbine designs. While hopefully keeping the elements that made the SKS great.

Good Work, I remember watching the last video, I could only imagine the hours of tinkering and frustration, Would be neat if you got approached by one of the bigger names in the game. Better get it patented!

It's cool, with the AR trigger group is all out of battery protection gone?

No, the SKS bolt carrier has a tail that prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin until it's in battery. that's why the top of the hammer is scooped out, so it doesn't hit the recoil spring, I seated the SK-17 hammer high enough to hit this shelf as well. You can still pull the trigger on OOB, but all you get is a click.

Which makes the operation more like an AK than an AR, i suppose

great great work !
this is MUCH Better than those junk some companies put out there in recent years.
I look forward to learn more about this design cuz I need something like this !

The best modern design SKS ideas I've seen. Excellent ingenuity.

Watch out for the business leeches !!

Interesting but why are you doing this? I don't get it.
It's like me standing in the mall making delicious double sundaes with tons of toppings tellng people, sorry, not for sale.
Isn't someone going to rip off your ideas and profit from your hard work?

And please tell me that was once a mint '49, lol.

Anyways, thanks for sharing.

When all hell is full the dead will walk the earth carrying sks rifles in various states of modification similar to mad max

It needs to be featured in some post apocalyptic movie.... Absolutely awesome mods! I too am currently working on a bolt release for my SKS. And the SK 17 if PROOF, that it can be done !

Out of all the SKS mods and chassis..this is the one I like the best. Just a guy doing something because he felt like it, not trying to make you believe this is the best thing since the M1. Doing it to just do it is cool and he learned more about firearms than anyone ever will by dropping a receiver in a 150 dollar piece of plastic or 800 chunk of aluminum. This is the first truly " custom " SKS ever posted on here.

What magazines do you use? They seem to have BHO device and no duckbill. I take it they work without modifying the receiver?
Great work as well! I like the simplicity and reversibility of your system.

These are all commonly available Tapco Intrafuse SKS magazines with the duckbill removed. Like all SKS magazines, they must be carefully fitted to the individual reciever, but as long as the fitment was done properly, any SKS magazine with a BHO tab on the follower should work just as well.

No, the receiver doesn't have to be modified to work with the magazines

Off all the 7.62x39mm options I've seen recently I want this one most!
I own no modern rifles over .22lr and I think this would be the rifle I'd choose.

Where? How much? When ?
I want it just like the set up in the video......scope rail included?

Would make for the best dragons den episode ever!
