Okay, I have this question at the back of my mindfor a while.

Under the barrel of an FR-8 rifle, there is a tube. What is the purpose of this tube, other than serving as a bayonet lug? Seems a bit excessive for a Mauser platform bolt action gun to me...

What is the value of a decent FR-8 in Canada now?

Values have been pushing up for a while. Had my eye on one for $650 a while back and hesitated. Last one I saw was over $1200 so depending on condition they can get up there

You have to adopt the mind set of the average 19 year old infantry conscript. The tube under the barrel is for a couple of spare cigarettes and a picture of your girl friend or possibly for a cleaning kit. An FR-8, in good to very good condition, 750$ to 850$ in today's market

Hahahaha I like your explanations

Cleaning gear storage I believe I’ve heard

My buddy has one. I'm not sure whether it's his gun or it's for all FR8s, that the bayonet lug is bolted into the tube and block access to the tube completely. It would be difficult to unbolt to do a field strip in my opinion.

Cleaning kit and bayonet lug to use the same bayonet at the Cetme rifle.

Mine has a spanish note in it about some 'puta'
There's one on the EE for $700, considering what budget rifles are selling for now, $700 seems like a steal. I wouldn't sell mine for that.
