I recently bought a cheap, OEM Ruger 10/22 stock from Boyds stocks.
It was sprayed a bed liner black and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it?
I took the plastic butt plate off it to swap it over to a chrome/metal one for starters, when I noticed it was a pink laminate stock that was painted over at Boyds.
I took the stock and stripped/sanded the bed liner off it.
After I stripped the stock, I gave the it 3 coats of hot black die mixed with menthol alcohol as a drying agent.
Between each coat I sanded the stock with 000 steel wool.
After each coat, it started to take on a darker purple colour.
When I finished dying the stock, I gave it 4 coats of satin polyurethane and put the rest of the pieces of the puzzle together.
I know it's not every-bodies piece of cake, but it sure put a smile on my daughters face when I told her it was her's.....
