I'm doing some extra Vz58 research for an article on Outdoor Hub this week, and dug up something I'd never seen before. Hopefully it's new to you too!

In 1976 the research and development institute in Brno experimented with adapting the Vz58 rifle into a bullpup format. It was called the EZ-B or the Experimentální zbraň ("experimental weapon")

Here's what few photos I could find:

Any pictures of the guy who got to test it? Or was his face too horribly disfigured to look at, after getting too close to that bolt carrier?

I've seen this rifle before searching Czech military firearms. Looks interesting, but I'd still rock the original configuration if given the choice. Bullpups aren't my thing.

Haha, yeah that looks like a good way to get some crud shot into your eyes. Never understood the guys who want to bull pup an SKS either. I'll stick to keeping my face behind the gaping ejection port/crud spewer.

I read about the experiments with an underbarrel GL but hadn't seen photos!

Wild that the receiver itself is customized to accommodate the launcher, rather than building a launcher that would fit existing receivers.

from what i can see the receiver its self is the same. i think its a custom lower hand guard. the front sight block is altered for a side mounted bayonet. i guess at the time a bayonet was still a really important item?
