This is a CGN First Look, sneak preview at the Robinson Armament XCR-M 7.62 x 51 caliber rifle. This is still a prototype. There will be a couple more changes before it drops into public hands.

The XCR-M uses a new gas system, and gas regulator that reduces recoil down to near 5.56 levels.

As much as I like the idea of having FA available on a rifle.
....wouldnt that be really hard to control? Almost useless?

Who cares. If I had rock and roll on my m14 I'd have a big stack of ammo beside me, and burn through it fast enough to burn the wood stock to the ground. I wouldn't even care how many shots made the paper, as long as they all stayed within the berm.

With a muzzle brake I think it would be reasonable to see it tamed down significantly, and it looks like they have some brake of some kind on the end of it in the youtube video, because it isn't walking up on him in full auto.

Compared to an HK G3 , FN FAL and USGI M14 on full auto i would say this by far has the most controllability as far as full auto fire goes , compare the recoil impulse of all the above . the XCR had almost no muzzle rise and seemed to handle the reciprocating mass alot better .

However im not happy how they had to throw the word lethal in big bold red letters on their video .. any anti gun person is going to remember that .

At this point they're probably mainly trying to market it to LE/mil customers.
