Beautiful rifle you have there.

May I ask what kind of finish you used on the stock?

the stock was like saturated with oil or what ever is on them so i took a new blade from a razor knife a scraped the wood smooth (that works really good)taking off *alot* of crap, rounding off any rough edges and any imperfections(i couldnt believe how light the wood was under all that stuff ) then steel wool and ultra fine scotch pad then finished it with linseed oil and minwax (hard driing floor wax:eek: )

I'll be the first to admit, I don't know jack about these Norc M14s. But I got an 07 in a grey park finish (factory finish?) and I gotta admit I like it in the black better...

I wonder...
Does anyone now of a gun smith that can re-parkerize these rifles to the more darker finish. As I to am in the camp with DANCESWITHEMPTIES in wanting my wood stock m14 to look a much deeper colour of black.

I know that Valley gunsmithing in Petawawa does commercial perkerizing, but I've never personally seen their work so cannot comment.

Here in Ottawa, SKSCannuck has the tanks and we sometimes to zinc park at BBQ's. It turns out blacker than the Norc parking.

If you can get a stainless tank and a proper heat source, it's pretty easy to parkerize stuff.
