A lot of people recommend getting the conversion kit so you can practice with cheap 22 ammo. But I seem not able to find any for sale in Canada. Can I order them from states?

I ordered a Kadet kit from a US online retailer whom I had purchased pistol magazines from in the past without issue. Needless to say, my CC was charged, the item was shipped with a tracking number and was subsequently seized by U.S. border services. After much heated communication with the vendor, I did eventually receive a refund, but it was a time-consuming PITA.

I understand that some have received .22 conversion kits from the USA, but I took a chance and wasn't as fortunate (BTW it is legal to import slides into Canada, but the US INS & ATF seem to have problems with this)... I ended up purchasing my Kadet kit from Wolverine, and I'm very glad I did. YMMV :)

This was my experience, I'm not sure if this answers your question or not.

I've seen nothing but good reports from the conversion kit.

However I enjoy having my .22 and 9mm pistol sitting side by side at the range with loaded magazines standing by. I tend to shoot a magazine or two of .22 then shoot a magazine of 9mm. If I had to stop and swap the top ends this would seriously break the flow. So while they are a nice conversion I'd have to say that I'd rather have a dedicated .22 plinker that complements my center fire options rather than replaces it for the day's session.

YMMV of course. I'm not sure what and how you want to use the conversion.

That's too bad.
I ordered a .22 pistol kit from a US outfit in California, of all places, and received it no prob.

Congrats, I guess INS and ATF do miss a few...;) I wouldn't risk it again, not for legal reasons, but for fear of losing my money--it's really a pain making a cross-border fraudulent sale claim to your credit card company when you entered into the contract willingly; you also have to deal with an uncooperative vendor (who may be out both money and product), and the contracted carrier/broker. Not fun! :jerkit:
