There is hope for Whitehorse! Gopher (?) sighting

I was sitting in the truck on Jekyll St, between 5th and 6th Ave, and saw what looked an awful lot like a gopher preening itself on a lawn about two houses away. Could this be?

I was going to say, looks more like a Columbia ground squirrel, fairly common in the Rockies, around here.

The ground squirrels they call gophers were very common in the Yukon, any time I was there.
Almost as thick as ptarmigan on the BC section of the Haines Junction road!

Think they spend a lot more time in hibernation than Richardsons, shooting opportunities are limited. Besides, they are not really a pest, neat to see and hear when you're in the mountains.
