I want to restock my SKS, but nothing really seems to turm my crank.

I like the idea of a folder, but the ATI folders IMO are kinda cheapy looking:

I definitely want a little more to hold onto (ie pistol grip) but I really don't like the bulk of a Dragonov Style:

Now so far the Monte carlo seems to be the best option but IMO a little too politically correct:

now the Tapco T-6 is cool but I can't find a Canadian source and I really don't want to buy across the border:

Any suggestions????? And don't say keep it original

I need 100 threads......:D

Well this question was rewarded to hopefully get what I am looking for, I have seen some neat SKSs out there, I am beginning to think most of them are custom made stocks.

actualy there is a company that is willing to ship to canada that last AR-looking stock.........i just have to find the thread.......

Actually I just saw the thread, thanks, Willing to ship and actually getting through customs is not the same thing, now so far it would seem they have made it through.

I saw an AK-47 stock somewhere, which looked nearly identical to an AK if you had an SKS-D with 30/5 mags, can't remember where though...

I think the Tapco is kind of neat, except for the AR style buttstock. I don't see why a straight line stock with a simple vertical pistol grip hasn't been brought forth. I think a stock configuration with the lines resembling a G3 stock could be nice.
Did you know that Choate is now remaking their folding stock for the SKS? You can see it on their website.

My friend has the Choate Dragunov. I find it to be a very comfortable stock. I would buy one for my SKS but I have unlimited use of my friends SKS w/Dragunov.:)

I checked out Choate's website, I couldn't find this stock you are reffering to. It is no the "most creative" website by any means.

BIlly,
Try this. You can get it in black or green (I like the green one myself, I think this is a relatively recent that the green stocks came out).

Just a note, if you want to scope it, the Choate SKS scope mount is one of the best out there. It is mounted to the reciever with four screws and is one of the few that will hold zero when shooting. Since your at the website check it out. Don't get the 'receiver cover' type scope mounts as offered by others, there are many of those out there - none of them work well.

Wherezat Powerwagon guy? He posted a pic of one of his SKS's in a thread a while ago, it had a wild lookin' thumbhole stock on it that remains unidentified. It was quite sleek and ###y looking, like a woman's leg, all curvy and nice :D

Incidentally, I'd go for the Dragunov, mostly because it's the coolest looking one, but also because it provides a more stable design/platform for shooting from. The OEM wood stock wasn't exactly designed for ergonomics, it was designed to cost as little as possible and be produced in record time  The Dragunov design (I'm talking about the original rifle) was intended to provide stability and consistency for the long-range shooter. Granted, the ATI stock is just a cheap copy, but the basic architecture still provides WAY more function than the OEM stock, IMHO.

Found the thread w/Powerwagon's SKS pic, go here and scroll down a bit; http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19238
