Has anybody experienced problems with the M-14 Thermold magazines? I purchased a number of them (new) a couple weeks ago and attempted to use them today. They would not seat properly on my Norc shortie or my springfield M1A, neither rifle's mag release would engage the magazine. I am just wondering if anybody else has experienced this problem and if they came up with a solution to fix it.

Thanks,

Others have, try the search function - with the date range changed to more than 2 weeks ago. Search = crap, but the answers are usually there if you can figure it out.

Thanks BioPace
After fumbling around for a couple hours I figured it out. By inserting the magazine and then smacking the floor plate with force it will seat the magazine. After repeating this multiple times it broke in the mag to a point where a little bit of wear was noticeable on the back side. It now slides in as it should. However I think I will break in the other mag's on my Norc and not the springfield. I will test them out tomorrow on the range.

ThermJunk, that's what they should call these mags. I took both my norc and my Springfield out yesterday with these mags. Of the five that I purchased not a single magazine would fit smoothly into the mag well as the sides of the magazine flare out as you load rounds which also meant they failed to feed every time. I could not even strip a round off starting from an open bolt. I honestly don't know how anybody could sell or produce this junk. Stay away from these mags.

My thermamold was doing the exact same, not picking up the rounds. All i did was build up the material on the back of the mag with some epoxy. Tyen once it hardened i cut it square with a scroll saw. Mag fits perfect and feeds perfect.

I bought 2 new thermold mags from (DL##K), wouldnt even strip off an open bolt. not reliable at all.
