Hello all.I was able to spend some quality time with my rifle tonight.Ok what I found so far the butt plate assembly is heavier on the Chinese version and the metal is configured different then the USGI model.I cannot fit a Promag recoil pad on the chinese stock without cutting the top hole mounting pad back.USGI butt plate will not fit chinese model without doing some wood work.
I also found that the tabs on the handguard for the USGI model are different then the one that came on the M14S.If I put the USGI handguard on it will slide around as the clip is spread too much not allowing it to clamp the handguard down to the barrel area.A dremel tool could fix it I'm sure.

The safety sure is noisy, reminds me of the AK clack.I'm sure it will get better with time.Ya I know what do you expect for 399.99.Just my observations so far YMMV.:)

interesting. I never noticed any differences between the norc and the USGI buttplates or handguards. I also replaced the buttplate with one of the rubber recoil pads and it fit perfect in the norc stock.

I installed a rubber butt plate on a USGI fg stock, and found the norinco screws were too short to span the thickness of the rubber beneath the screw head. I simply counter sunk the screw heads a little deeper to make it work.

I have two Norc stocks and they're both the same way.Maybe we have a different style rubber butt plate? The USGI metal butt plate that I took off has two raised(for want of a better word) ribs by the top screw hole where the M14S/Norc just has the countersunk screw hole.
