Hey all, I'm buying a cz 858 in good condition used next week & am wondering as to what I should look for upon first inspection of the rifle before I buy it? what are some quick things to look for before handing over the cash and parting ways? the rifle is the tactical 2 model with the metal folding stock. It has only had 500 rds through it as-well.
Cheers,
Riley.

Corrosion corrosion corrosion. Some ammo that is advertised as "non corrosive" is not really non corrosive. A pitted bore won't necessarily affect function or accuracy, but it makes it much harder to clean and definitely reduces the value of the rifle.

Check the bore and the head of the gas piston for corrosion. The bore should look perfect with that sort of round count. The head of the piston should be nice and shiny after a quick wipe. Take a bore light, or just a small flashlight that will fit inside the receiver to check out the bore condition properly. If the bore is corroded at all, it will be down close to the muzzle.

Also, check that the magazines are not cracked up by the feed lips. They are an aluminum body, and if dropped on a hard surface they can crack. Best way to see is if you load the mag up with five rounds, the pressure will widen the crack.

Any idea on who does them? I'm not sure if the one I'm getting has one, but i'd have no problem paying for it to be done.

CGN user bronco something or other. Can't remember exactly, but a search might turn him up. Please report back here if you do find him and he's still doing the work!
