That museum was one of my favorite things we seen a few years ago. Theres a lot of neat stuff to see there, and I highly recommend it if your ever in the area.

The National War museum is a great place to learn some things. If you are lucky enough to find a chatty Veteran working the floor there is a lot to be learned! I learned quite a bit about staghounds the last time I was there, and when the collection was housed at the old archive building, I spoke to a centurion radio operator who had a lot of great stories from Germany to share.

The National Aviation museum is a little known collection of some pretty fantastic aircraft. My Great uncle (RIP) was a mosquito pilot in WW2, and my family has a picture of him standing in front of the museum's mosquito, along with his ex-navigator who he just happened to run into there..

They have several of the last remaining portions of the Avro Arrow, and I believe that in the last couple of years they managed to open a second complete hangar to the public to display some more aircraft. Last time I visited they were working on restoring a B-24 :)

Canada Day is a great time to visit either museum. I was lucky enough to visit the air museum and witness a flight of CF-18s returning from Bosnia do a low pass over the roof and runway.

wear comfortable shoes and it takes about 4 hours to just walk through and see everything, but it takes days if you start looking closer, amazing place, been 4 times now and always see things I missed previously

I was there two years ago, took about 3 hours to get through everything but I'm sure there is much more that I didn't see. Want to go back at some point soon.

Yeah I actually took the day to look through it (6 hours?)

I like to read everything though lol. I spent at least an hour in the vehicle hanger. But my real love is... FIREARMS! So I had to stop and inspect every one :)

I have yet to get there and I'm not that far away.. Now on my list

Okay, I've had a look at your catalogue, and I've made my list. I'll start with the SVD, I'll take the T-34, and… one of everything else.

Whom do I see to check out? Visa can handle the load, I think. You do give out Air Miles, right?

My mother worked at GM during the war and thats were the Mosquitos were built. She was a welder there and worked on every Mosquito, they kept a few employees after the end of the war was announced to finish the last couple planes being built.
It was really neat to see the plane at the museum knowing that she had her hands on it years before.

Brutal. I live about halfway between the war museum and the aviation museum, and the last time I visited was probably the war museum 2 years ago and the aviation museum well before they built the second hangar.

I'll have to get back in there. Thanks for the pics!
