Things you don't see when you're shooting....

gents, may I disappoint you somewhat. Not seing your muzzle flash usually means you are momentarily closing you dominant eye. Friend of mine being an instructor had long debating arguments with some people so he had to make video to convince them that their eyes are shut the moment shot breaks. It is less visible of course, mostly because it is obstructed by the gun, but with neavier calibers you can expect to see a little bit of flash. There is even exercise for beginners - forget aiming, concentrate on breaking trigger without desturbing sights alignment and watch for muzzle flash.

Shot some more today. I definetly saw the flash but not to the same extent as the other day looking in from the side. I don't know if it's the angle or what. And I really only noticed it when I concentrated on wanting to notice it. As soon as I returned my attention to the sights and the target downrange the flash "went away".

Now when my buddy and I closed the day out with a round each from the range's S&W 460 there was no way NOT to notice the flash.... but I did blink involuntarily when the concussion hit me.... :D
