...when you haven't gotta gun
Tuesday night, my wife and I went to check out some firewood shortly before dark. She asked why I didn't bring along a rifle (moose & elk are open) and I said we'll only be gone an hour. About 30 minutes later we are bouncing down an old trail and what walks out of the timber 50 yards in front of the truck? A legal two point (immature) bull moose. As I stumble to answer her unasked question of how stupid I could be, out walks another bull. This one is sporting a rack easily 50" across and has more than the required minimum of three brow points
Two legal bull moose standing about 50 yards away, season is open, license is in wallet, don't start shift 'till Wed. night, rifles are at home
I explain how I left the guns at home on purpose so that we'd see something. Her reply is that I'm simply full of $hit
We had a good laugh and managed to spot two more moose on the way home. All in all, it was great. Now that the "scouting" is complete, all I've gotta do is take Westicle in there and see if those bad boys wanna play
Anyone else wanna share a goof up?
