Think I may have worn out my 10 22

nope, didnt remove the barrel. I've taken the stock off to have better access to the gun for cleaning. I do have a cheap Tasco scope on it and I have been really lame on the cleaning of things.

Oh boy, we have found the problem.

hey, there's been many a tasco /bushnell/bargain basement cheap scope mounted on the 10/22 and done alright- usually another 15 bucks, making the whole package under 300- good enuff for gophers and still have a few bucks left over for ammo- we didn't all have unlimited funds to buy glass for the gopher guns back then- typically, it was either a tasco or bushnell 4x20mm with that funny claw mount or a 2-7x 20mm - or a tasco 4x that was meanst for a cheap air rifle

yea them dam tasco scopes, I happen to know a lil lady that shot a 6" group @ 1000 yards with a 25-06 and a tasco scope lol ... guess she would have won even better with a leupold or nightforce lmao

I have given the gun a really good scrub down today, my vblocks (I assume those are the bolts holding the barrel on) were a touch loose. I gave them another quater turn each. The take down screw is tight and the action is not wiggling in the stock, so its off to the range in the evening this week. If my scope is the problem what should I be looking for? There is no obvious damage and all bolts/rings are tight.

If it's the scope, there may be no way to tell other that changing it out to a good scope and trying it again.

Sometimes you will really know when a scope goes bad, other times it's just suspect.

I've probably got 50000 to 70000 rounds through my 10-22 (at least 500, normally 1000 a weekend since new) I can still hit clays with it with open sights @50 yards. Clean your gun and check your scope.
