Do any of you think we'll ever see a .22 cal V-max type bullet loaded in a .22lr? I love shooting my .22's but I'd like it if there was a more fragmentable bullet avaliable for them. I have a .17HMR and love it. I just was there was the same type ammo avalaible for a .22. Maybe I'll just have to find a lever action chambered for the .17 Mach 2. Anybody know of one?

Thanks
Tim

The .22 long rifle uses a heeled bullet with the case and the bullet being about the same diameter.
Makes a V-max bullet tricky but not impossible.
The longer V-max bullet wouldn't fit in a lot of mags.
The larger diameter would require a heavier bullet - probably 35 gr. (the current lightest .22 Vmax). So you would be down to normal .22 speeds, making the bullet overkill - probably wouldn't expand.

There is nothing saying they couldn't design a premium bullet specifically for 22lr. Considering how many guns are out there already chambered in 22lr, they would have an enormous potential market. I have no intentions of replacing my 22lr with a 22Wmr, 17hmr or 17hm2, but I would consider jacketed 22lr ammo if it was available.

Maybe some kind of saboted 17 for 22lr?

That's a great idea. Wouldn't be surprised if something is already in the works, for when the HMR/M2 bubble bursts. Doubt we would see it while sales are still strong.

If we all email Hornady, they may even consider it.
