Thinking about a bushnell elite with D.O.A

Hello. Has anyone tried the D.O.A reticle from Bushnell? It is supposed to have multipule holdover points and a method of ranging animals built into the reticle pattern.

The reason I ask is because right now wholesalesports has the 3-9x50 elite with DOA on for $309 CDN This seems like a really good deal.

Honestly I would stay away from any compensating rectical. Reason being all calibres have a different flight path and different weight bullets in the same calibre drop different, who's to know what calibre and bullet weight the DOA rectical is matched to, my guess a 180grain 30-06 but who knows. I have more confidence myself holding a bit high on a shot.

It looks like the same idea as Burris's ballistic plex (Or Leupold's Boone and Crockett). Its a handy system in my opinion, but one that should be confirmed at various shooting distances to know the variance in your cartridge.

thanks for the replies. I have taken the advice offered here and decided to go with the standard reticle instead of the DOA. The multi-X just seems to be more versitle.

Picked up an elite 3200 DOA scope today and mounted it on my Baikal single shot 270.. I spent more for the scope than I did this little rifle, but I like the concept of an accurate 1 shot 1 kill shooter for hunting next fall. I'll be sighting this in later this week.

I own one, 6500 2.5x16x42. I bought it mainly for the glass/relief/price ratio, though I will be trying out the DOA once load development is matured for the rifle it's on. I question it's useful potential though, as it's meant to work ONLY at max magnification. Something's gonna have to stand still an awful long time for me to range it that way

Wholesale does have the DOA as I was looking at it yesterday. Although ammunition may vary it should be easy to work the ranging out on your loads quite quickly

We now have most of the DOA models in stock. These come in Trophy, 3200 and 6500 models but for some reason not available in the 4200 series. Like every raning reticle system you must confirm your bullet drop of your caliber, barrel length and bullet weight with the graduations on the retilce. Phil.
