have only owned 2 .22 bolt actions both where c.i.l's with 4 shot mags, but gave them to my nephew's when they passed all their courses.

now have 2 more nephew's who want to learn how to shoot and get their licenses.

what, would you suggest in a good reliable .22 bolt action.

not to expensive.

i find a bolt the best to teach them on.

what's on the market now?

Just got my new Russell's cat in the mail. CZ has a "SCOUT" model for young people. It has a 12" LOP, 16 " barrel , 5 shot repeater bolt action, You just can't beat CZ accuracy and in a few years it will still be worth some money. Price $360----Cowboy

I'll second the Scout. Good price. EXCELLENT rifle.

If you're looking for somethin' real cheap, then you can get the Toz 78 for around $150; also, a very nice rifle for the price.

Savage Mk II they're very accurate and around $150-$200 new and about $100-120 used. Great gun and is available with 10 and 5 round mags.

Thanks for the input folks,

gives me something to chew on till next summer when i hope to buy a couple.

CZ 452 Scout

I bought a Scout from Airguns Only in Sask. $350.

Comes with a single shot clip blank but you can buy 5 shot clips for use when the guys get a little more experience. The action is the same as the full size 452's and I found it to be an excellent shooter. Mine likes American Eagle cheap stuff - same results as Eley. I made a 13 5/8" LOP but lighter stock for it but you could add a spacer and/or a recoil pad and a scope on the dovetail and the kid could shoot it for years.
