Thinking about buying this Garand. Need Advice

FWIW, the engraved or EP numbers on Italian M1 bolts are not serial numbers, they're inventory numbers and NEVER match the receiver heel.

When Districorp first imported these years ago, I got to look at some of the unissued rifles that had never left the cosmoline since Italy. in each case, the cosmo was wiped off the top of the bolt and an inventory number applied that was not hte same as the receiver. In fact, I've never seen on match.

I'd not let that stop me from buying one. During rebuild, you could often even see a Winchester bolt fitted to a Breda. Some are engraved nicely and some a shoddily electro-pencilled. I prefer the nicer engraving if you're going to have any...

We all have regrets about guns we should have bought. I was at Lovetts once, they had an no. 4 Enfield rifle with nice blonde wood, gun was like new, and it was in .308...price was $100...I didn't buy it because it didn't have a magazine...damn.

So your from Dartmouth?
