Hey, thinking about getting the Remington 700 sps varmint, in 308. Was wondering what you guys think about this rifle, also thinking about getting a tikka t3 light in 308, toss up between the two. Any suggestions, tips and advice on the new rifle. Also, I would love suggestions for a scope to top it with. Thanks.

tikka t3 light in 308 and it's not a toss up forget the rem ...for a good scope BUSHNELL 4200 - 2.5 X 10 X 40 MM ....oh yes don't buy cheap aluminum rings or bases ..because it will be your weak link ..

I have the Tikka T3 light in .308 win and love it.

i have one in .223 my 11yr old daughter shoot it to 600m(so far) she hits 4,5 and v-bulls with it ,,, i like the gun. fit and finish are lacking and on this gun the firing pin hole has been chamfered but the hole is proper sized

For what kind of hunting? if you're going after bighorns and elk in the hills, get the tikka. I just lugged my 700 sps v .308 around the hills for over a week in search of wapiti and i felt each one of its 10+ pounds (when shooting time came around it did the job nicely, though). If you hunt deer from a blind or moose from a quad (legally, of course) the remington is a very nice long-range rifle. Plus it looks better, if you ask me. Sub-moa easy on the rem for sure, haven't shot a T3.
